Students upbeat over smart Net connection
- Wi-fi network to aid residents in using technology

As the city gets ready to welcome Wi-fi, Shambhavi Singh of The Telegraph talks to a few residents on how the technology would affect their lives.

How does Wi-fi work?

User needs to go to the network option on their mobile phone. Switch off the mobile data and then activate the Wi-fi option through the cellphone.

The mobile will ask for the authenticity of the user and then click on “Free Wi-Fi zone of Patna”.

Click on “connect” as no password has been allotted. The mobile will automatically get connected to the Internet

Where will it work:

Residents within 1km area of hotel Maurya on east and west would be able to enjoy Wi-fi connection 24x7 till March 5. The speed would be 512kbps per user and over 3,000 people would be able to log on at a time

When will it be available in other parts of city:

The Rs 3-crore project will tentatively start from April 2014

Many government plans remain confined to files only. This one has seen the light of the day. Wi-fi would certainly increase connectivity to the outer world of which students are not aware. Students like us will get proper exposure

to new things invented, discovered and processed through regular surfing

I am preparing for the IIT examination. When I study till late night, many doubts crop up. Owing to lack of Internet connectivity, I have to wait till morning to visit a cyber café. Now I can solve all my queries with just a click. The Wi-fi connectivity in the city will surely help many students like us in their studies and overall personality development

Wi-fi connectivity will make us more technology-friendly. For students, the Internet packs are quite heavy on our pockets. The connectivity is quite good. Now we can surf the Net for free. It will help us save a few bucks and keep us connected with friends and relatives as well. It is a great initiative by the government

Now, we would be able to complete our projects and assignments. Owing to lack of Internet connection, we were not able to submit projects at time. The 24x7

Wi-fi facility will help us in many ways. I have tried to connect to the Wi-fi and found the speed to be good. Hope the city comes up with the full-fledged Wi-fi service soon
