An ode to royal repast

What: Hyderabadi food festival

Where: Sizzles at Spring City Mall in Hinoo, Ranchi

When: Till Feb. 23

Nothing quite tickles the foodie in winter like a full nawabi daawat. At Sizzles, delicacies from the city of Charminar are tempting Ranchiites from February 15. Drop in to watch how kebabs fly off the seekh and biryanis disappear off the table, each long grain gone, leaving only redolence behind. And then, get inspired to place your order...

Oohs & aahs: The spread reflects rich taste and diversity of royal cuisine — kebabs, pilafs, kormas and yoghurt dishes with sweet endings (read meetha paan, a must for the courtly Hyderabadi). Think dum ka biriyani, dum ka murg, nihari ghost, murg roshani kebab, Andhra mutton curry and lal gosht. If you are vegetarian, fret not. You’ll be romanced by paneer majestic, aloo khada masala, baghare baigan and more. Then, try double ka meetha and khorbani ka meetha. Calorie, what calorie? Sin was never sweeter!

Mouth-watering secret: Aromatic spices, authentic and in just-right amounts, traditional cooking for flavours of yore

If music be the food of love: Yes, the eternal pair of ghazals and Hyderabadi cuisine are here together

Pocket pinch: À la carte, not buffet. Every dish is priced between Rs 150 and Rs 500

Hosts: “Hyderabadi cuisine is all about herbs, spices and condiments. A perfect amalgam of all these add unique taste and texture to dishes”..................Kausar Ali, chef

“Come, enjoy and discover horizons beyond biryani. For authenticity, the chef has been flown in from Hyderabad” ........................Anish Pandey, consultant, International Hospitality Partners, who conceived the idea of the food festival
