Rs 1cr hash haul at NJP

Siliguri, Feb. 12: A Nepali national was arrested from New Jalpaiguri railway station today with nearly 10kg of hashish worth around Rs 1 crore.

Bir Singh Ghale, a 26-year-old resident of Nuwakote district in Nepal, was arrested by the Railway Protection Force, which said he was trying to smuggle the contraband to New Delhi.

S.A. Khan, an RPF inspector at NJP, said the hashish weighed 9.975kg and customs officers estimated its price to be around Rs 1 crore. “We found the hashish hidden in a suitcase during a routine security check when the youth was heading to the platform. He tried to escape, but our jawans caught him,” said Khan.
