Ahmed urged to clear files

Ranchi, Feb. 11: The state Congress today requested governor Syed Ahmed to clear key appointments before model code of conduct is enforced in view of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

According to sources, state party president Sukhdeo Bhagat met the governor in the afternoon and urged him to expedite the process of appointment of managing director of Tenughat Vidyut Nigam Limited (TVNL), vice chancellors of universities in Jharkhand as well as formation of a Tribal Advisory Council (TAC).

These files are lying on Ahmedís table for over a month now as the governor was not well and had to be operated for stomach ailment. He has recently re-joined office.

State HRD minister Geetashree Oraon also visited the governor in the afternoon.

The process of appointment of TVNL MD was started last year. The screening committee had recommended the name of G.L. Tripathi from NTPC. Ahmed made certain technical queries and the government sent the file back to the governorís office on January 4. In the same way, appointment of vice chancellors in four universities of Jharkhand is awaiting the governorís views.
