Girls practise karate at Moinul Haque Stadium in Patna on Monday as part of Tarang, Bihar Sub-Junior Sports Meet, which started on Sunday. Around 10,000 girls would come up with a martial arts presentation at Gandhi Maidan on Thursday, the last day of the fest being organised by the education department, before chief minister Nitish Kumar. Last year, around 2,300 girls had demonstrated their karate skills at Moinul Haque Stadium when Nitish had asked the education department to encourage more girls in martial arts. The education department has provided martial art training to 1 lakh girls in the past year. The major competitive events of Taranag are kabaddi, quiz, long jump, high jump, sprint, volleyball, sugam sangeet, painting, relay race and karate.
