JMM woos MLA trio

Ranchi, Feb. 8: Disgruntled JMM MLAs Mathura Prasad Mahto, Bidyut Baran Mahto and Jagannath Mahto withdrew their resignations from Assembly late last night after a meeting with party chief Shibu Soren and chief minister Hemant Soren.

They had submitted their resignations to the JMM chief in protest against the party’s decision not to field Sabita Mahto, widow of former deputy chief minister Sudhir Mahto, for the Rajya Sabha elections.

“We withdrew our resignations. Guruji explained to us the conditions in which the party took the decision to withdraw her from the fray. As Congress and RJD refused to support her, the party was not left with required numbers to win the seat,” Mathura said.

Salkhan Murmu, president of Jharkhand Disom Party, criticised the MLAs.
