Manipur trounce Assam

Aizawl, Feb. 6: Manipur won the first match of the pool B stage in the fifth T. Ao football tournament at Assam Rifles ground here, blanking Assam 4-0.

Manipur captain Nautan Singh netted his teamís first goal in the 58th minute. Manipur continued to pump in three more goals within the next 20 minutes through Sushil Meitei, Nautan Singh and Md Imran Khan respectively. Assam retained only three players from the team that played the recently concluded Northeast zone qualifiers of the Santosh Trophy tournament at the same venue. For the remaining nine players, todayís was an entirely new game in a totally different environment.
