Rebel held

Shillong, Feb. 5: An overground Ulfa worker was apprehended by the BSF troops from Meghalaya’s West Garo Hills district today.

Mebel Sangma of Belabor village under Dalu police station was arrested while moving in a suspicious manner in Purnabazar near Purakhasia market, a BSF official said. The area is more than 330km from here.

The official said Sangma had “confessed” that he had been working for Ulfa cadres for the past year. Sangma, from whom a mobile phone was recovered, was later handed over to police.
