Top honours for Olendro, H. Sanjit

Imphal, Feb. 2: H. Sanjit of Chingkhei Hunba claimed the gold medal in the senior tent pegging individual sword event of the 11th DG Assam Rifles Cup and fourth Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) Junior State Equestrian Championship at Mapal Kangjeibung today.

Sanjit collected 29.5 points for the gold. Three other riders were tied with 26.5 points and another round was added to determine the silver and bronze medallists. In the extra round, L. Olendro of Kangleipak PSC stood second while M. Surjit Singh of MPSC and Ak. Sanatomba of Nagamapal YPC took the bronze medals. In the senior tent pegging lance individual event, L. Olendro Singh of Kangleipak PSC got the gold while N. Ranjit Singh of Imphal Riding Club fetched the silver. H. Jibon Singh of Chingkhei Hunba PC (C) and L. Atangba Singh of Chingkhei Hunba Polo Team won the bronze medals.

Badminton: R.S. Abil of Senapati District Badminton Association claimed the veteran singles title of the 59th Veteran State Badminton Championship at MBA indoor stadium in DM College today.

Referees: The AIFF has appointed three referees — L. Priyobrata Singh, M. Nimai Singh, N. Ibungo Singh — as officials of the T. Ao North East Football Championship 2014 in Aizawl from February 5-15.

Umpires: The Badminton Association of India has declared that three umpires from Manipur — Ningthoujam Mckenzi, Bony Akoijam and Toijam Dineshwar Singh — have passed the National Badminton Umpire’s Examination Grade II, 2014, in Cuttack, Odisha.
