Tata MD pat for ISM

Dhanbad, Jan. 25: Tata Steel managing director T.V. Narendran today lauded Indian School of Mines (ISM) for shaping up brilliant minds and urged the students to make the most of their education to emerge leaders not only at the national level, but in the global field too.

Narendran, who was felicitated by the mining cradle, also laid stress on regular research and development and collaboration of industries and academic institutes.

“Research and development are as important as collaborations between industries and academic institutes. It helps groom students, who get better access to latest information and excel in the professional field after landing jobs,” the Tata Steel MD added.

Vice-president of Tata Steel Suresh Dutt Tripathy, who was also present along with deputy vice-president (raw materials) R. Singhal, said more than 180 former students of ISM were working at Tata Steel.

“ISM alumni are doing a great job. We want to take more students from here,” Tripathy added.

Narendran also interacted with faculty and research scholars and later addressed BTech and MTech students at Penman auditorium.
