Karnataka almost through to final

Mohali: Karnataka have placed one foot in the final of the Ranji Trophy after extending their lead to 177, after only 36.1 overs of play was possible on Day IV of the Ranji Trophy semi-final against Punjab, at the PCA Stadium, here, on Tuesday.

At stumps, Karnataka were 447 for five after bad light stopped the proceedings.

The visitors scored 96 runs on the day without losing any further wickets as left-hander Amit Verma celebrated his return to the team with an unbeaten knock of 114 runs, while the in-form Karun Nair reached to 151.

The duo have already added an unbroken 206 for the sixth wicket.
