Varsity’s degree day deferred

Hazaribagh’s Vinoba Bhave University (VBU) failed to break its convocation jinx this year too.

The varsity, which has a history of rescheduling convocation dates, will be hosting its sixth degree day on February 26 and not January 28 as earlier decided. The VBU headquarters in Sindoor received a communication in this regard from governor’s house on Monday.

“The programme had to be postponed from January 28 to February 26 because of Governor Syed Ahmed’s busy schedule,” said acting vice chancellor Surendra Singh, also commissioner of North Chotanagpur commissionerate Surendra Singh.

However, sources said the sixth convocation was earlier rescheduled twice — once in 2012 and again in 2013 — due to unavailability of a high-profile chief guest.
