Road mishap claims 1

A 50-year-old civil contractor was killed in an accident on Tata-Hata Road in Sundernagar police station area early on Wednesday.

Surya Singh Purty was critically injured when the bike he was riding apparently collided head-on with an unidentified vehicle while he was taking a blind turn near Kudada. However, no one could say how the accident exactly happened as there was no eyewitness.

A local resident found Purty lying on the road and informed police. A team from Sundernagar thana rushed the Jadugora resident to Tata Main Hospital at 7am. After battling for life for more than two hours, the civil contractor succumbed to his injuries around 9.30am.

OC K.D. Jha said Purty was riding towards Jamshedpur on the state highway when an unknown vehicle hit the biker after he took a blind bend. “We have sent the body for post-mortem,” said the OC.

Victim succumbs

Twenty-seven-year-old Ravina Devi alias Pushpa, who was seriously injured after a bike hit her last Sunday, succumbed at Tata Main Hospital (TMH) on Wednesday.

Pushpa was crossing Tata-Kandra Road when the mishap took place. A resident of Rapcha village in Gamharia, Pushpa was rushed to MGM Medical College and Hospital. After her condition deteriorated, family members shifted her to TMH on Tuesday.
