London: Manchester United manager David Moyes has been charged with misconduct for his post-match comments about the referee after Tuesday’s League Cup defeat at Sunderland, the Football Association said on Friday.
Moyes was unhappy with the match officials following the 1-2 defeat – United’s third consecutive loss – particularly with Andre Marriner. Moyes berated referee Marriner and his officials for the “terrible” decisions that led to Ryan Giggs’s own-goal and a penalty winner by Fabio Borini.
Moyes said of the officials: “We’re having to play them as well as the opposition at the moment. It’s really terrible, it really is. We’re actually beginning to laugh at them, that’s the thing.” (reuters)
