GTC beat Radial by seven wickets

Guwahati, Jan. 5: Hosts Gauhati Town Club registered a convincing seven-wicket victory over Radial Club, Nagaon, in their match of the Ramesh Baruah Trophy Invitation Cricket Tournament at Judges Field here today.

Put in to bat, Radial Club was bundled out for a paltry 45 runs in 15 overs.

Deepjyoti Goswami was the only batsman to reach double figures with 10 runs while Avinav Choudhury was the wrecker-in-chief with five wickets for 10 runs.

Kangkan Das bagged two wickets for seven runs in two overs while Mrigen Talukdar picked one wicket, conceding 12 runs.

Chasing a meagre total, the hosts got past the target losing three wickets in 10.3 overs.

Dimbeswar Boro remained not out with 14 runs.

Mrinmoy Dutta picked up two wickets, conceding 13 runs, while Ajay Sarkar scalped one wicket for 22 runs.

GTC went down to Bud Cricket Club (Green) by 103 runs in a group league match yesterday.

Batting first, Bud were all out for 255 in the stipulated 40 overs.

Biplab Saikia topscored with 46, while Mukut Kalita and Rajdeep Das contributed 41 and 38 respectively.

Abdul Saher Islam of GTC hauled five wickets for 38 runs and Ambar Bhattarcharya chipped in with three for 33.

In reply, GTC were all out for 152. Rio Parmanik scored 47. Debabrata Roy of Bud bagged four for 25.
