Four flights cancelled

Siliguri, Jan. 3: Four flights were cancelled from Bagdogra today because of poor visibility inconveniencing around 300 passengers.

Airport sources said the flights that were cancelled are an Air India plane bound for Delhi, two SpiceJet flights to Calcutta and Delhi and one Indigo flight to Calcutta.

“Because of low visibility, four flights were cancelled from Bagdogra today. Six other flights operated on schedule,” K.K. Bhowmik, the airport director of Bagdogra, said.

On December 28, Air India had cancelled a flight because of bad weather. On December 29, although Air India decided to run an additional flight from Bagdogra, it was later cancelled.

Met office sources here said dense fog would prevail tomorrow as well.

“Dense fog, reducing surface visibility to less than 200m may occur at few places over the sub-Himalayan Bengal, Jharkhand and Bihar during the next 24 hours,” a warning issued by the Met office here today read.
