New Delhi, Nov. 10 (PTI): AIIMS and the Indian Society for Trauma and Acute Care felicitated several families today for donating the organs of their loved ones.
Seema Bindal, among the many who were felicitated, said: “I wanted my daughter to remain alive and that is why I donated her organs. Today she is alive among others to whom she has given life.” Seema’s 16-year-old daughter, Surbhi, was crushed to death after a wall collapsed on her.
Meerut (PTI): A chopper carrying home minister Sushil Kumar Shinde landed on wet ground on Sunday following which its wheels got stuck in the mud. Shinde wasn’t hurt and inaugurated the CRPF’s Academy for Riot Control before flying back to Delhi.
Mumbai (PTI): A youth held for planting a bomb in a local train in 2006 has completed a three-year degree course in tourism in jail through distance learning. Ethesham Siddiqui, 31, lodged in the Arthur Road jail, has also done certificate courses in Urdu, Arabic and human rights, according to his lawyer.
Erode (PTI): Forest department officials have arrested one person for killing a deer and possessing its meat. The accused allegedly confessed to killing the animal and has been remanded in judicial custody for15 days.
New Delhi (PTI): The New Delhi municipal council (NDMC) will set up 33 eco-friendly gyms that can be used for free. The equipment at the gyms will be eco-friendly and designed for use with minimum risk, NDMC chairperson Jalaj Srivastava said. The project’s unique feature will be the “acupressure walks” — a 10m pebbled path.

Jaipur: Rajasthani folk story writer Vijaydan Detha, one of whose stories was made into the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Paheli, died after a heart attack on Sunday in his village Borunda, near Jodhpur. He was 87.
