"US study is an adventure"

Zahir Ahmed is the executive director, international programmes and services, at Southeast Missouri State University in the US. He has earlier served as director at California State University, the University of Dayton, Ohio, the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor and State University of New York. He arrived in the US in the mid-70s for his undergraduate degree in psychology (eventually followed by a masters in counselling). With no sponsorship in hand, he worked double shifts to fund his studies in an era when student work permits were not so strict.
