Guwahati take 76-run lead

Guwahati, April 22: Home side Guwahati took a 76-run first innings lead against Sivasagar on the second day of their three-day Nuruddin Ahmed Trophy senior inter-district elite group cricket tournament at Barsapara Cricket Stadium here today.

Resuming at the overnight 100 for three, Guwahati were all out for 209 in 64.3 overs today. Sivasagar, who were bundled out for 133 in the first innings yesterday, were 14 for four in six overs when rain stopped play for the afternoon.

Off-spinner Gokul Sharma and paceman Chanakya Sarma of Guwahati bagged two wickets each for six and five runs respectively in the second innings.

Earlier, the overnight tandem of Abhijit Singha Roy (35) and Pritam Debnath (59) shared a 75-run partnership for the fourth wicket to take the total beyond the first innings lead mark.

Romario Sharma (23) and Gokul Sharma (15) were the other main scorers for Guwahati today.

Opener Pallav Das (29) and Rahul Hazarika (21) were the other notable scorers for the side yesterday.

Arpan Dutta of Sivasagar returned with a haul of six for 62 and Shyam Gurung claimed two for 47. Yasir Ali and Biku Borgohain also claimed a wicket each.
