Maharana make it to final

Guwahati, March 21: Maharana Athletic Club entered the final of the Anairam Nunisa Guwahati second division cricket tournament defeating Brahmaputra Boys Club by 13 runs in the first semi-final at Judges Field here today.

Put in to bat, Maharana posted 157 for seven in 25 overs and Brahmaputra Boys were restricted to 144 for nine in their 25 overs.

Gourav Gogoi topscored for Maharana with a hurricane 53 off 34 overs hitting six fours and a six.

Suraj Baruah and Atal Tiwari of Brahmaputra Boys took two wickets each.

Rajit Aliís run-a-ball 67 (4x8) for Brahmaputra Boys went in vain as the rest of the batsmen could hardly contribute a. Suraj Gaid (18) and Atal Tiwari (13) were the only other batsmen to score in double figures. Nekibur Zaman, Biraj Dey and Sanjeev Razzak of Maharana claimed two wickets each.

Gauhati Town Club will meet Chandmari SC in the second semi-final tomorrow.
