A Suitable Pair!

aamir khan & sonakshi sinha

He makes a film a year; she doesn’t churn out less than four. After galloping into the Rs 100-crore club with his contemporaries — Salman Khan (Dabangg), Akshay Kumar (Rowdy Rathore) and Ajay Devgn (Son of Sardaar) — Sonakshi Sinha is waiting in the wings to mark her entry into the Aamir Khan club. Sonakshi’s dream run at the box office — three of her four releases last year were biggies — and Aamir’s knack for picking the right script would make their film together a winner. Sonakshi is reportedly raring to work with Aamir — especially since arch-rival Anushka Sharma has netted Peekay opposite him — and Aamir himself has praised Sonakshi’s performance in Dabangg 2 to the skies. But there is one slip between the casting and the lip — Aamir must kiss in every film of his and Sonakshi has so far refused to pucker up. Will she make an exception for this Khan?

shah rukh khan & vidya balan

If their crackling chemistry on a Bolly awards stage — even with Vidya’s brand-new husband Siddharth Roy Kapur in the audience — is any indication, there is a film screaming out to be made with Shah Rukh Khan and Vidya Balan. The man with the charm to sweep any woman off her feet and the woman who can do no wrong at the box office would make a cracker of a film together. Our pick? An edgy love story directed by Sujoy Kahaani Ghosh. And? We would like to see

SRK in a sexy beard and Vidya in sexy Sabya saris.

salman khan & konkona sensharma

What happens when the tiger of commercial cinema shakes paws with the thinking woman ? Getting Salman Khan and Konkona Sensharma in a film together would be a coup. Koko’s camera confidence and effortless acting will be a perfect foil to Sallu’s star power and larger-than-life persona. With Ranbir Kapoor in Wake Up Sid, she’s already shown what magic she can create with out-of-the-box casting while maybe, just maybe, he is tired of the Sonakshis and Asins. They could even play characters close to real life — he the superstar; she the actress who doesn’t care about his stardom. And then they fall in love.... Move over, Mills & Boon!

shahid kapoor & katrina kaif

She’s shared screen space with all his contemporaries — Ranbir to Imran — and we don’t see any reason why Shahid Kapoor and Katrina Kaif haven’t come together yet (in a film, sillies!). Shahid has apparently been keen on working with Kat for a long time — he pushed for her in dad Pankaj Kapur’s Mausam but Sonam Kapoor bagged the film; he put in a word for her in Rambo Rajkumar, but Prabhudeva opted for Sonakshi. A breezy rom-com would just be the ticket to get the two together. Third time lucky, maybe?

john abraham & kareena kapoor

She called him “expressionless” on the Koffee with Karan couch; he was quick to retort that he thinks Priyanka Chopra was far hotter than Bebo. John Abraham and Kareena Kapoor have been at war for far too long and t2 thinks it’s time to call a truce — by signing a film together! The hunky hotbod and Saif Ali Khan’s begum are two beautiful people who need to be seen in the same frame and though many producers have (unsuccessfully) tried to bring them together, something tells us it will not be long before John and Bebo kiss and make up. C’mon, for the fans’ sake, guys!

ranbir kapoor & parineeti chopra

He’s the best actor of his generation and she’s a complete natural. So, we wonder why someone hasn’t scooped up Ranbir Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra yet. Considering how good they are individually, can you imagine the fireworks on screen when the Kapoor beta and the Chopra babe finally do a film together? Though the two almost did, in Abhinav Singh Kashyap’s Besharam — Parineeti eventually lost out to newcomer Pallavi Sharda — it would probably need one hell of a special film to get Ranbir and Parineeti together.

A large chunk of the interest for Friday film Aatma is for its novel casting — Ballygunge bombshell Bipasha with the grim Kahaani man Nawazuddin.

His unlikely casting of R. Madhavan and Kangana Ranaut in Tanu Weds Manu paid off and Aanand L. Rai is hoping to strike gold once again by bringing together Sonam Kapoor and Dhanush of Kolaveri fame in his June release Raanjhana.

Imtiaz Ali sprung a surprise when he cast the petite Bhatt daughter — who made her debut as a feather-brained fashionista in Student of The Year last year — opposite the rough-and-tough Randeep in Highway.

Sonakshi and Shahid’s pairing in Prabhudeva’s Rambo Rajkumar — a south-style romantic actioner — is generating a lot of buzz.
