Presidency make it to final

Guwahati, Feb. 26: Presidency School will meet South Point School in the final of the Munindra Chandra Paul Guwahati Sports Association inter-school cricket tournament at Parade Ground in Dispur here tomorrow.

Presidency School today got the better of Srimanta Sankar Academy by four wickets in the second semi-final.

South Point had yesterday defeated Little Flower School by six wickets in the first semi-finals.

In todayís match, Sankar Academy elected to bat first and were all out for 98 in 16.1 overs. In reply, Presidency reached 100 for six in 20.1 overs.

Sonu Bala topscored for Presidency with 28 runs while Shamim Akhtar Hazarika of Sankar Academy accounted for four wickets for 17 runs. Earlier, Anurag Barman and Aman Sohail Haque scored 12 each for Sankar Academy.

Dipankar Choudhury of Presidency hauled five wickets for 23 runs while Viraj Dey claimed two for 16.

Khirod Baruah Trophy: The Assam Football Associationís 63rd senior inter-district football championship for Khirod Baruah Trophy will be held at Majuli from March 23. The affiliated district teams have been asked to confirm entries, submitting a fee of Rs 100, latest by March 12.

Volleyball meet: The first all Assam inter-volleyball coaching centres volleyball championship will be held at the Guwahati Volleyball Coaching Centre here on March 2 and 3. Altogether six teams from Tinsukia, Tangla, Tezpur, Sorbhog, Nalbari and host Guwahati will participate in the tournament.
