Iraq blast kills 28

Baghdad, Feb. 17 (Reuters): Several car bombs exploded in Shi’ite Muslim neighbourhoods across Baghdad on Sunday morning, killing at least 28 people in blasts that tore into shops, restaurants and busy commercial streets.

No-one claimed responsibility for the attacks but Sunni Muslim insurgents are suspected.

Fukuda dead

Los Angeles (Reuters): Keiko Fukuda, the granddaughter of a samurai who learned judo from its founder and became the highest-ranked woman in the martial art, died on February 9 in San Francisco. She was 99.

Los Angeles (Reuters): Hugh Grant, 52, announced on Saturday that he had become a father for the second time after Tinglan Hong gave birth to a baby boy.

US planes

Washington, (PTI): US F-16 fighter jets intercepted two small planes that separately violated flight restrictions set up in Florida for President Barack Obama’s visit, a media report said.
