Call for correct oil use

A mining meet with focus on lubricants sought cost-effective measures to ensure proper upkeep of machines.

The seminar, organised by marketing division of Indian Oil Corporation Limited at a Ranchi hotel, had T.K. Nag, director (technical and operations) of Central Coalfields Limited (CCL), as chief guest. It was attended by over 50 representatives of mining entities like CCL, Bharat Coking Coal Limited, Eastern Coalfields Limited, Tata Steel, SAIL, Dhansar Engineering and Rungta Project Limited.

“Oil is precious. Hence, it will be better if we are aware of the latest trends in the industry, take full benefit of developments and practise initial control for implementing cost-effective measures so that the mining machinery are in proper condition,” Nag said.

R. Suresh, general manager, technical service, IOCL, who came from Mumbai, apprised the delegates about latest global trends as far as mining machinery was concerned, saying India was lagging behind. “It is high time that we meet this challenge and utilise the opportunity to get familiar with latest trends,” he added.

IOCL officials also made presentations on various properties of newly developed lubricants and their utilities.

Rajesh Nambiar, also from Mumbai, made a presentation on engine oil while S.K. Halder from Jamshedpur spoke about hydraulic oil.
