Lajong recruits Japanese striker

Guwahati, Jan. 28: Shillong Lajong Football Club today signed up Japanese forward Sho Kamimura in its Asian player quota.

The 23-year-old Kamimura has played in the Japan League for clubs like Mito Holly Hock in 2011 and Albirex Niigata Singapore FC in 2012 and scored eight goals for Albirex Niigata Singapore FC in 2012.

The I-League outfit, currently placed ninth in the tally, have bolstered their attack by signing the J-League striker known for his speed and agility. Shillong Lajong have been struggling for a proper striking line all through the season.

“I will work hard and give my best to help the team perform well in all the remaining games,” he said.

He has become the fourth foreigner in the club’s ranks, the others being Nigerians Friday Gbeneme and Ebi Theopillus Sukore and Korean Minchol Son.

Lajong has also been trying 30-year-old Japanese striker in Taisuke Matsugae in the last few matches.
