Godwins sail ahead

Guwahati, Jan, 25: Godwins School tamed Hindustani Kendriya Vidyalaya by seven wickets and Don Bosco School inflicted a nine-wicket defeat on Sarala Birla Gyan Jyoti in two league matches of the Nabin Chandra Tamuly inter-school cricket tournament at Nehru Stadium here today.

Opting to bat, Sarala Birla were skittled out for 66 in 23 overs and Don Bosco batsmen achieved the target losing only a wicket in 12.1 overs.

In the other match, HKV, put in to bat, were restricted to 132 for nine in the 25 overs and Godwins reached 133 for three in 21 overs.

Brief scores: Sarala Birla 66 (Jeet Kalita 10, Riyan Parag 2/13), Don Bosco - 67/1 (Riyan Parag 50 no); HKV - 132/9 (Amardeep Poddar 28, Imran Ultaz 22, Chandan Sah 14, Sanju Basfore 5/26, Vishal K Singh 2/25), Godwins - 133/3 (Sanju Basfore 54, Raja Kumar 42, Imran Hussain 1/20).
