Super Sporting win

Imphal, Jan. 23: Super Sporting Association defeated Moral Educational Intellectual Renaissance and Athletics Association by 4-2 goals in a preliminary round match of the 14th Kanti Mukherjee invitation hockey tournament organised by Hockey Manipur at Khuman Lampak hockey stadium here today.

H. Mani of Super Sporting was the star today as he scored three of the four goals for his team. He converted one penalty corner and scored two field goals.

The penalty corner goal came in the 35th minute and the two field goals in 45th and 65th minutes.

His teammate Th. Rocky increased the tally to four via a field goal in the 68th minute. For Moral Educational, O. Tolen scored the first goal via a penalty corner in the 30th minute while N. Jinjin scored a field goal in 48th minute.

GTC cricket: The 3rd GTC Cricket Sixes Tournament, organised by Gauhati Town Club, will be held at Judges Field here from February 1 to 3, writes our staff reporter from Guwahati.

Guwahati chess: Rajbari Athletic Club will organise a Guwahati-level prize-money open chess tournament on February 2 and 3 at the club premises. The top 10 position holders will be awarded cash prizes. The tournament will be held in seven-round FIDE Swiss League format.
