ARC beat Tiddim Road

Imphal, Jan. 15: Assam Regimental Centre (ARC) Shillong sailed into the final of the Sir Churachand memorial football tournament at Mapal Kangjeibung today via a solitary goal against Tiddim Road Athletics Union, Imphal.

They will now play in the final with the winners of tomorrow’s second semi-final match between Kuki Sporting Club and North East Reorganisation and Cultural Association, the defending champions.

The first half remained goalless though both sides made enough efforts.

ARC’s midfielder Gordon Lalramchunna scored the only goal of the match with his free kick from the right of the penalty box in the 64th minute.

Lalramchunna, a footballer from Mizoram, played for the first time in the tournament today.

His goal earned him the Man of the Match award.

After the goal, ARC changed their formation and fully concentrated on defending.

After the match Tiddim officials roughed up referee Margo Singh accusing him of partiality. The All Manipur Football Association, the organisers of the tournament, is likely to take action against Tiddim.
