Guwahati, Jan. 10: Charaideo today marched into the semi-finals of the Umananda Bora Trophy Inter-District (under-13) Cricket Championship, handing a five-wicket defeat to Barpeta in a quarter-final encounter at Barsapara Stadium here today.
Put in to bat, Barpeta were restricted to 149 for eight in the stipulated 40 overs and Charaideo reached 153 for five in 33 overs.
Siddhartha Sutradhar (18), Udipta Das (17) and Denish Das (16) were the notable scorers for Barpeta while Prajjawal Baidya of Charaideo hauled four wickets for 20 runs.
For Charaideo, Dibyajyoti Phukan scored 37 and Surajit Rajkonwar 31.
Debasish Baishya of Barpeta scalped three for 18 runs.
In another match at Nehru Stadium here, Goalpara tamed Biswanath Chariali by 10 wickets in a group A first round match.
Put in to bat, Biswanath boys were skittled out for 67 in 16 overs and Goalpara reached 71 for no loss in 11.5 overs.
Akash Kashyap (20) was the only Biswanath batsman to score in double figures while Himangshu Ramchiary of Goalpara scalped three for 11. For Goalpara, Sanjib Barman and Gaurab Thakuria remained unbeaten on 30 and 22 respectively.
