2 NSCN-K militants shot dead

Kohima, Dec. 16: At least two militants were killed at Kiphire town, about 300km from here, this morning.

The NSCN (Khaplang) cadres were gunned down by rival Khole-Kitovi faction. The two groups are engaged in a turf war after the NSCN (K) split last year. Several cadres have been killed after the split.

The situation in Zunheboto was also tense after Friday’s clash at Ghukiye village, 10km from Zunheboto town. Khaplang cadres had attacked the designated camp of the rival faction.

The tension was defused by security forces.

While the NSCN (K) had vowed to overrun the Ghukiye designated camp, the NSCN (Khole-Kitovi) said it has enough manpower to defend the camp. The NSCN (K) said it would not let Ghukiye camp exist and anytime they would come back to attack the camp.
