Imphal West humble Bishnupur

Imphal, Dec. 13: Imphal West District Football Association thrashed District Football Association, Bishnupur, 6-0 in the qualifying round of the 56th Sir Churachand Memorial football tournament at Mapal Kangjeibung today.

Imphal West, who dominated the play, began their goal campaign early when Kh. Johen beautifully converted a corner kick from Ng. Peter in the seventh minute.

The other five goals were scored by Sianminthang, N. Roshan, H. Johny, including a brace by Sh. Netrajit.

Both teams indulged in rough play. Vikash of Bishnupur was shown a yellow card while his teammate Premchand was cautioned.

Fifa team: A joint team of Fifa and All India Football Federation, led by Monica Staab, Fifa consultant for women football development, arrived here on a two-day visit to assess women’s football in Manipur. Manipuri girls form the majority of the national women’s football team.

The team watched a women’s exhibition match at Mapal Kangjeibung today.
