Navarang thrash GTC, enter last 8

Guwahati, Dec. 13: Navarang Club today handed a six-wicket defeat to Gauhati Town Club to book a quarter-final berth in the Ratanlal Singhania and Mohini Devi Singhania Ankurjyoti Challenge cricket tournament at Judges Field here.

GTC, electing to bat, were all out for 178 in 35 overs and Navarang reached 180 for four in 30.3 overs.

Nitin Das topscored for GTC with a strokeful 52 (4x6, 6x1) while Mrigen Talukdar and Deep Bora chipped in with 25 (4x2, 6x1) and 23 (4x3, 6x1) respectively.

Neeraj Tiwari and Shekharjyoti Barman of Navarang claimed three wickets each, conceding 29 and 37 runs respectively. Rajiv Kalita also picked up two for 35.

For Navarang, Manoj Malo scored 73 (4x11, 6x1) and Palashjyoti Das remained unbeaten on 65 (4x7).

Mrigen Talukdar, Deep Bora and Chandan Rai of GTC picked up a wicket each.

Bud Cricket Club will clash with River Rine Club in a quarter-final encounter tomorrow.
