Fall in rupee

Mumbai, Nov. 16: The rupee today weakened by 46 paise to close at a fresh 2-month low of 55.16 on the back of a surge in dollar demand from importers and sustained weakness in local stock market. The rupee opened lower at 54.85 and touched a high of 54.83 before turning weak and falling to a low of 55.20.

Sebi bar

Mumbai, Nov. 16: Sebi has barred two entities —Flex Trade and Rashmi Jain — from the securities market for one year after an investigation into unfair trading in the shares of four firms, including Temptation Foods and Cals Refineries.

Bangalore, Nov. 16: Five southern states — Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Pondicherry — today agreed to hold talks to arrive at a uniform approach in the grant of industrial incentives to curb unhealthy competition in attracting investment.
