Easy victories for KVK, Modern

Guwahati, Nov. 14: Modern English School and Kendriya Vidyalaya, Khanapara (KVK) posted wins in their respective matches of the 7th All Assam Parijat Mazumdar and Rooby Group inter-school (under-14) cricket tournament at Latasil ground here today.

While Modern School got the better of Smriti Academy by 19 runs, KVK defeated Fairyland High School by six wickets.

In the morning match, Modern School elected to bat and piled up 165 for eight. Smriti Academy boys were restricted to 146 for seven.

Aadesh Chakraborty (39) was the topscorer for Modern while Biplob Mazumdar contributed 34. Bikashdip Kaman also chipped in with 13.

Arindam Lahkar and Rohan Agarwal of Smriti Academy accounted for three scalps each. Prince Singh also picked up a wicket.

Arindam Lahkar topscored for Smriti Academy with 43 runs while Robin Sutradhar chipped in with 17.

Bhaskarananda Boro and Subham Tarafdar of Modern shared two wickets each for 11 and 10 runs respectively.

Biplob Mazumdar was named Man of the Match.

In the afternoon match, Fairyland School elected to bat first and were bundled out for 86 in 19.3 overs. KVK later reached 90 for four in 10.3 overs.

Atul Kumar Singh (25) and Dhiraj Kumar Pandit (10) were the only Fairyland batsmen to score in double digits while Aman Kalita of KVK notched up three wickets for 18 runs.

For KVK, Bishal Das and Abhishek Paul scored 19 runs each and Aman Kalita contributed an unbeaten 14 to be adjudged Man of the Match.

Atul Kumar Singh picked up two wickets for 23 runs.
