A 67-year-old woman committed suicide by hanging herself from an iron beam at Farm Area home on Road No 23 in Kadma police station area on Monday morning.

Identified as Ramadhari Devi, the deceased was a kidney patient and was apparently disturbed over the trouble her family faced in treating her ailment.

The deceased left a suicide note in Hindi in which she had said the disease she was suffering from was painful and therefore she was leaving the world. She did not hold anyone responsible for her death.

The body of the widow was found hanging at 9am and immediately family members rushed her to Tata Main Hospital, where she was declared brought dead. The body has been sent for post-mortem.

Uday Prasad, the deceased’s son, said though his mother had been ailing, she did recover after undergoing treatment at TMH recently.

Tata Steel employee Prasad said he left for his A-shift duty at 6am and around 8.30am his wife Mala left to drop her child to the coaching class. When she returned at 9am, she found her mother-in-law’s body.
