Siliguri, Sept. 20: Students from 15 colleges in Siliguri, Darjeeling and Jalpaiguri are competing among themselves to win various musical and dance contests ahead of the finals of the T2 City Centre Spotlight, an inter-college competition organised by The Telegraph.
The finals of the event, powered by Uninor and organised in association with the American Centre and Max, will be held at City Centre on September 29 and 30.
The programme would include Star Quotient (the face of the college), Muzik Marathon (group antakshari), Hotstepper (fusion dance competition), Raagsutra (solo vocal competition), and Megawatt (music band competition).
The colleges will participate in these five exciting events. The intra-college competitions have started from September 14 and will continue for the next eight days, till September 25, said a source.
The finals would be held for two days, September 29 and 30, at the City Centre. In the preliminaries, college students will compete against each other on their own campus.
Hundreds of students are participating, said a co-ordinator. One winner from each event from every college would be selected and he or she would take part in the finals. For Star Quotient, there might be one girl and one boy from a college, said a source.
The final will be watched by celebrity judges and there will be scintillating performances on that day, he added.
The organisers said, Tuki from Krosswindz, a Calcutta-based Bengali band, will judge the band contest and perform on September 30. The winners of Megawatt will get to take part in the American Centre Autumn Music Festival 2012 that would be held in Calcutta.
