Sonam the romantic

Dressed in Anamika Khanna, waiting for the India International Jewellery Week (IIJW) finale to begin, Aisha girl Sonam Kapoor happily dug into pao bhaji and insisted on a cold drink, backstage at the Grand Hyatt in Mumbai. When we entered the room, she smiled and greeted us warmly, “You are from Calcutta, na?” relating us to the city her favourite designer comes from.

The giggly girl, in between her jokes about losing weight if she fell sick after downing the cold drink — “I love all aerated drinks. I’m having full Sprite, not even Diet Sprite” — chatted with t2 on all things romance!

What spells romance for Sonam Kapoor?

R--M-A-N-C-E (laughs). It’s true! That’s how it’s spelt (laughs)... Romance is the frills of love I guess, it’s the beginning of what love is. It is the courtship period, that is only when the romance comes in.

Are you a romantic? What is the most romantic thing someone can do to woo Sonam Kapoor?

Ya, I am romantic. I like gestures, whether big or small. I like showing how much I love somebody. To impress me, one can buy me jewellery!

Have you ever played Cupid in real life like you did in Aisha?

I am a girl and I think most girls play Cupid. (Looking at her friends) I’m constantly trying to set my friends up and nobody gets set up!

And, like all girls, did you dream of a man like Leonardo DiCaprio in Titanic (2012 is the 100th year of the ship that sank).

Ya, I have had the biggest crush on him since the longest time. I must have watched the film five trazillion times!

Which is your current favourite romantic film?

Which is your all-time favourite romantic film?

Gone with the Wind.

What is the one romantic film from your father’s filmography you would like to star in?

With him?? Ewww!! Otherwise remake, it will be Lamhe.

Are you in a relationship right now?

(Giggles) Even if I was, I would not tell you.

Coming to films, how is the shooting of Raanjhnaa coming along?

I hope it is coming along well. We always hope for the best when we are shooting for movies.

What is Dhanush like as a co-star? Are you a fan of his Kolaveri di?

Yes, I am. I used to have it as my ring tone. Dhanush, I still have to shoot with him. I have just shot stuff with Abhay (Deol).

What about your role in Bhaag Milkha Bhaag opposite Farhan Akhtar?

It’s a surprise package!
