| Arindam Das
Calcutta: The selectors, on Monday, dropped experienced Bengal batsman Arindam Das from the list of 32 probables for the Ranji Trophy.
It was learnt that Arindam’s ‘inconsistent’ form failed to impress the selectors — Deep Dasgupta and Satinder Singh.
For the record, Arindam had scored 245 runs in nine matches last season, including a century against Madhya Pradesh.
“The selectors had given him a lot of chances... Though he scored a century and a half-century last season, he was terribly inconsistent. He was also not in the best of form during the club matches. So, they took a decision to drop him,” said the source.
Speaking further on Arindam’s exclusion, the source added: “This is certainly not the end of the road for Arindam. The selectors will judge his form in club cricket. If he can impress the selectors, they might give him another chance.”
Shifting focus to the Bengal A side, the selectors have named 60 players for a three-day trial, which will take place under the supervision of Devang Gandhi and Deep.
