2 held for boy murder

Two persons were arrested on Friday for allegedly killing a nine-year-old boy in the small hours at his home at Birpur village under Madhepur police station.

Sources said the child, Gopal Chaupal, was shot around 2am when he was sleeping in the verandah. A land dispute between Gopal’s father Darshan Chaupal and his neighbours is suspected to be the reason behind the murder.

Birpur residents Lakshmi Chaupal and Chandra Shekhar Chaupal — neighbours of Gopal’s family — have been arrested. A third accused is absconding.

Station house officer of Madhepur police station Madhurendra Kishore said: “We have lodged an FIR against three persons and arrested two of them. Saryu Chaupal is absconding. Both the accused were produced in court. It sent them to 14-day judicial remand in Madhubani district jail.”
