Bangalore: Ambati Rayudu certainly played an innings to remember for Mumbai Indians against Royal Challengers Bangalore, in Bangalore, on Monday.
But, off the field, he got involved in an incident he would like to forget. He got involved in a spat with RCB’s Harshal Patel just after taking MI to victory.
The home team captain, Virat Kohli, came in defence of his player. Rayudu while celebrating MI’s win allegedly passed some comments on Patel that enraged the tall RCB medium pacer who charged aggressively at the Mumbai batsman before his captain Virat Kohli rushed to stop him.
“He (Rayudu) should have instead walked to the dug out and celebrated the win with his teammates. That sort of reaction was not needed,” said Kohli at post-match press conference here.
Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians captain Harbhajan Singh has been fined after the team maintained a slow over rate.
At the end of the match, Mumbai Indians were assessed to be one over behind the required rate after allowances were taken into consideration.
Since it was his first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Harbhajan was fined $20,000.
