FC Imphal sail into final

Imphal, May 8: FC Imphal sailed into the final, defeating Kongpal ISAV by 3-0 goals in the 14th Challenge Cup Veteran Football Tournament at Mapal Kangeibung today.

FC Imphal were in a strong position from early on when Th. Krishna Singh headed home after anticipating a well-judged cross from Bijoy Singh in the third minute for the lead.

The Kongpal team failed to produce any spark, thus minimising their chances for the equaliser in the first 30 minutes of play.

Dominating with some crucial passes in the final stages of the game, FC Imphal improved their game further when Bijoy Singh scored, getting the better of a goalmouth melee in the 36th minute for the two-goal lead.

Later Th. Krishnakumar Singh fetched the winning goal collecting a cross from the left in the 53rd minute for the victory today.

FC Imphal player Th. Krishnakumar Singh was awarded a yellow card.
