Junior cricket from May 18

Guwahati, April 30: The Noonmati Cricket Academy will organise the Ana-Matin Trophy all-India prize-money under-14 and under-17 invitation cricket tournament at Judges Field here from May 18. Four teams from Calcutta and Mumbai have confirmed participation. Schools, academies and clubs teams will be eligible to file entries with K.M. Ali latest by May 10 to confirm participation.

Chess coaching: An advanced chess coaching camp will be organised by GTC Chess Foundation for its students from May 2 to 6 on the Gauhati Town Club premises here. International master and former Commonwealth champion Atanu Lahiri will train the students, assisted by Biswajit Bharadwaj and Nandan Buragohain. The top five prize winners of the 1st GTC School Chess Championship held last year will be provided free coaching during the camp.

Fencers lauded: Fencers who bagged medals in the 2nd South Asian Fencing Championship, 2012, held recently in Hyderabad, were feted by the Manipur Fencing Association at Olympic Bhavan at Khuman Lampak. The gold medal winners include S. Jayenta, Kh. Rebika Devi, I. Pinky, Biki Thokchom, W. Roshan and Usharani Devi while W. Rimi, I. Pinky, M. Usharani also grabbed a silver each and W. Roshan and K. Cherish a bronze medal each.
