Smurfs village

Have you seen the film The Smurfs 3D? Remember their quaint village where most things were blue in colour? Here’s an interesting story related to that. Juzcar near Malaga in southern Spain was chosen as the set for the Smurfs’ village. Accordingly, it underwent a complete makeover. The houses traditionally dazzling white were given a coat of bright blue. Even the church was painted blue. The film’s makers, of course, had promised to return the pretty hillside village to its original state after the shoot was done, but now the locals want otherwise. They want the blue to stay. That’s because the new look has made their village famous, pulling in an extra 80,000 visitors in the past few months! Naturally, this has boosted their economy. Juzcar residents recently held a Smurf fair with some dressed up as giant Smurfs, and even named their mayor “Papa Smurf”. Blue is best for them.
