Facile win for Bud

Guwahati, Dec. 27: Bud Cricket Club rode a five-wicket haul by Fazaruddin Ahmed and an all-round performance by Swarupam Purkayastha to inflict an eight-wicket defeat on City Cricket Coaching Centre (CCCC) in today’s match of the Ramesh Barooah Trophy invitation cricket tournament at Judges Field here.

After winning the toss, CCCC decided to bat but were bundled out for a paltry total of 84 in 30.3 overs, thanks to a superb bowling performance (five for 13 runs) by Ahmed. Purkayastha chipped in with three for 15.

For CCCC, Raj Agarwala topscored with 15 (2x4) while Pranab Das and Rahul Hazarika contributed 13 and 11 respectively.

Bud romped home losing two wickets in 12.3 overs.

Purkayastha later topscored for Bud with an unbeaten 28 (6x4) and Rishav Das, too, remained not out on 23 (4x4). Tajindar Singh chipped in with 19 (3x4).

Anchal Saikia and Dhiraj Chetry of CCCC picked up a wicket each.

Ahmed was named Man of the Match.

Guwahati Cricket Coaching Centre will play River Rine Club in tomorrow’s match.
