Policemen in semis
- Cosmopolitan left with final chance to enter last 4

Imphal, Nov. 2: Manipur Police Sports Club moved into the semi-final, defeating Cosmopolitan Youth Club by 8-3 goals in the 13th Dr Kanti Mukherjee Memorial Invitation Hockey Tournament at Khuman Lampak Hockey Stadium.

Cosmopolitan still stand a chance of making it to the last four stages if they can win their last match against Super Sporting Association from Group B tomorrow.

Manipur policeman P. Priyokumar drove in a field goal and a little later Ksh. Wangamba Singh followed suit with another goal in the fourth minute. However, Cosmopolitan Youth Club’s K. Johnson delivered their opening goal converting a penalty corner in the sixth minute.

S. Tarunkumar and S. Rabi Singh added two more goals to the policemen’s kitty.

Police skipper P. Adeva Singh scored the fifth goal in the 44th minute and O. Boniyam quickfired two goals in the 51st and 54th minutes.

Tarunkumar added the eighth goal for the imposing 8-2 lead.

A last-minute dash from Cosmopolitan saw Th. Herojit fetching their third goal in the 69th minute.

In tomorrow matches, Moral Education Intellectual Renascent Athletic Association will take on Youth Club-cum-Information Centre while Cosmopolitan will play Super Sporting Association. SSB Guwahati will meet Territorial Army, Assam.
