Maruti ups car price

New Delhi, April 2: Maruti Suzuki India today raised the prices of its vehicles across various models by up to Rs 10,000 citing rising input costs and the introduction of new emission norms under Bharat Stage IV. The company’s latest models Ritz and A-Star will be costlier by Rs 1,000, Estillo by Rs 2,500 and Swift by Rs 3,750. Dzire will be dearer by Rs 7,000 while SX4 will cost Rs 9,000 more.

Vedanta deal

Beijing, April 2: China’s State Grid Corp has landed a $1.5-billion deal to build a thermal power plant for India’s mining group Vedanta Resources. Shandong Electric Power Construction Corporation, a unit of the State Grid Corp of China, will design, build and operate three 660MW generators in Orissa.

Sugar output

New Delhi, April 2: India’s sugar production may increase to meet the yearly demand of 23 million tonnes in the next 2010-11 season, a senior food ministry official said. Sugar production has reached 16.7 million tonnes in the first six months of the current season.

Oil PSU loss

New Delhi, April 2: Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum may see losses on fuel sales jump over 66 per cent to Rs 79,670 crore this fiscal. The three fuel retailers lost Rs 47,960 crore for selling petrol, diesel, domestic LPG and kerosene below cost in 2009-10.

RBI norm

Mumbai, April 2: The RBI has liberalised investment norms for Indian telecom companies by allowing them to invest in international submarine cable consortia through the automatic route.

Deutsche Bank

Amsterdam/ New Delhi, April 2: Deutsche Bank AG has completed the acquisition of ABN AMRO’s commercial banking activities in the Netherlands. The closing of the transaction follows an approval by the European Commission.

Air India plan

New Delhi, April 2: Air India will provide pick-up and drop facility to those travelling in the airline’s first and business class to the US, Canada and Europe. The service will be available at Delhi, Mumbai, Calcutta, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Bangalore, Calicut, Cochin and Hyderabad.
