Three-year-old crushed by bus

Three-year-old Sukur Ali Naskar was killed when a bus travelling towards Moulali hit him on Thursday morning. Police said Sukur was trying to cross the road with his father Jahangir when the accident occurred. Sukur was rushed to NRS Medical College and Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.

Woman hurt in cave-in

Rekha Rajbanshi, 20, was injured in the head and suffered fractures in both legs after a portion of the Calcutta Municipal Corporation staff quarters on Goragacha Road collapsed on her on Tuesday night. Police said Rekha was standing in the balcony of her first-floor apartment at the time of the cave-in. She has been admitted to Vidyasagar Hospital.

Wall collapse

Kartick Ghosh, 48, was critically injured after a wall collapsed on him on Sonarpur Road, in the West Port police station area, on Tuesday night. Police say the wall developed a crack in the rain and collapsed on Kartick, who was cycling by it.


Sushil Kumar Gupta, a trader who fled from Bidhannagar Sub-Divisional Hospital on Monday night after being arrested by officers of Lake Town police station, was re-arrested on Tuesday night. He was produced in court on Wednesday and remanded in judicial custody. Gupta was arrested on a charge of fraud.

Dock death

Mohammad Nafis, a 48-year-old labourer, died in the Kidderpore port area after an empty container that was being unloaded with a crane fell on him while he was asleep on Wednesday afternoon. He was taken to the dock labour hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.

Injured youth

An unidentified youth, with blood oozing from a wound in the head, was rescued by police from the crossing of Radhanath Chowdhury Lane and Pottery Road. He has been admitted to NRS Medical College and Hospital. Residents of the area said the youth may have been dashed by an autorickshaw.
