Jamshedpur, April 23: A high-level team from UGC would visit Jamshedpur Women’s College in May to review development work there.
Close to a year after UGC granted funds to the college recognising it as a “college with potential for excellence” (CPE), the review committee members would visit the college in May to ensure that funds have been properly utilised last academic year.
Granted Rs 60,000 in the first phase for development of the college under various heads, it has made significant improvement. “We got busy in developing the college after we received the funds in October,” said Shukla Mahanty, the college principal.
Development work has been the maximum in setting up separate libraries for every department and classrooms. Even the academic profiles of teachers in the starmarked departments of physics, chemistry, botany, zoology, Hindi and English have gone a long way in ensuring that they earn the star status to help the college earn the tag.“The star rating of the departments are all result-oriented,” said Mudita Chandra, a senior faculty member of the Hindi department.
