I Love You hero Dev is back...

With his second film, after hitting box-office bull’s-eye with his debut. For Premer Kahini, which hits the theatres on April 11, the lanky Dev has teamed up with Koel Mullick. “I Love You was a huge hit. But it’s the second film that is more important as it determines whether an actor is here to stay or not,” says Dev.

He waited for a year to sign his second film because...

“I was gearing up to settle down in Tollywood. I made the most of the past year catching up on Bengali films,” he says. Dev will start shooting for his third film soon.

Before films happened to him, Dev was studying...

Computer engineering in Pune. “I was born and brought up in Mumbai. My parents still live in Bandra. After finishing studies, I returned to Mumbai and started out as an observer on the sets of Abbas-Mustan’s Taarzan The Wonder Car. I also did an acting course at the Kishore Namit Kapoor Acting Academy.... Shree Venkatesh Films was looking for a fresh face for I Love You. I met them and bagged the role of Rahul.”

Slipping into the fun-loving Akash’s shoes in Premer Kahini...

Hasn’t been easy for the shy introvert. “I’m completely opposite my character in the film. Akash loves to talk and play pranks, while I like to keep to myself and don’t talk much. Before shooting, I had several rehearsals with director Raviji (Kinagi).”

To play cool dude Akash, Dev has changed his look...

“Akash has a very sporty body language and I wanted to get that right. I cut my hair short and I lost eight kilos for a trimmer look. I was extremely conscious of what I ate and a bit of cardiovascular helped me a lot.”

Two back-to-back love stories would...

Help him be the new lover boy of Tollywood. “Both I Love You and Premer Kahini may be love stories but they are very different from each other. Besides, I don’t want to experiment at this stage. If Premer Kahini works, I may do an action film.”
