3 nominations for Pollock

Durban: Shaun Pollock has been nominated for the three leading awards of his country — Player of the Year for 2006-07, South African Player of the Year and fans’ Cricketer of the Year.

The former captain has been nominated along with A.B. De Villiers, Andrew Hall and Jacques Kallis in the first category. Mark Boucher and Ashwell Prince will give him competition in the second category, while Makhaya Ntini and De Villiers are Pollock’s rivals for the fans’ award.

Cricket South Africa (CSA) CEO Gerald Majola said: “The Mutual and Federal SA Cricket Awards is one of the most important events on CSA’s calendar.

“They showcase South African cricket by recognising the achievements of people at all levels of the game from grassroots to the international arena, including cricket for women and the disabled.”
